Large Group ( over 50 employees )
Health Insurance:
Large group health insurance is not regulated as much as the
small group. The reason for this is that most large employers
do not have trouble getting or negotiating health insurance
for their employees. The large group employer will have to
supply more information to the carriers to get a quote than
the small employer. They will have to disclose information
about their current plan such as rates, benefits, knowledge
of any employee with health conditions, and any pregnancies
in the group prior to the quote. The carrier will base their
rates on this information and make an offer to the employer.
Some carriers will not make offers based on the industry or
other circumstances. If the carrier can't make a competitive
offer with the employer's current plan they will not provide
a quote.
Large groups generally have richer benefit plans available
to them and may have more choices available than small employers.
Larger employers will also have the additional coverage's
available that small employers have like dental, vision, chiropractic,
acupuncture, group life, and accidental death and dismemberment.
Large employers will also be able to set up a full section
125 plan for pre-tax payment of employees share of premiums
to reduce the taxes for the employees and the employer.
For Large Group plans we represent all the major insurance
carriers, including Blue Cross of California, Blue Shield,
Healthnet, John Alden, Kaiser, Pacificare, Universal Care,
and carriers outside of California. We also represent all
Dental, Vision, Disability, and Life Insurance carriers.
